Nuts

Theatre Antidote Youth Stage

When Buddys employers leave him in charge of their house for a few weeks, Buddys friends decide to come and stay, it is a beautiful house, after all. Buddy tries to stop them, but they refuse to leave. Just as things seem as if they can get any worse, the TV gets broken, and Shrekker, the son of the owners of the house, returns. Buddy gets pressured into forcing his friends to leave.

Throughout the play you can see the differences of characters, with the revolutionaries, and those who just go with the flow. In the second half of the play, the scene changes to a prison.

The revolutionaries who rebelled against the system have become prisoners, and the others have been turned into torturing warders under the evil leadership of Shrekker.

Buddy tries to go along with what he is told to do, but comes more and more to regret letting Shrekker tell him what to do and not standing up for himself.

Unfortunately there is one slight problem ... their instruments don't show up. Impounded by Russian customs, due to the discovery of a dubious substance in one of the instruments, the instruments are well and truly out of reach, as is the concert.

All hell breaks loose between musicians and conductor until Alex, a Russian cleaner/budding rock star comes up with a cunning plan.
